I just bought a P990i and I love it (i've owned a P800 and P900 before).
Unfortunately I am not able to sync it with my Mac OS X 10.4.10, even though the Sony Ericsson page says that it should work.
I followed all the instructions at this page:

I have Apple OS X 10.4.10
I have iSync 2.4 (501.2)
I installed the Sony Ericsson P990 iSync Plugin version 1.7
I disabled the power saving mode in the Bluetooth menu on the phone.

Unfortunately all I get when I try to sync is:

[P990i] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Device "P990i" synchronization failed

If on the Mac I try to browse the device (phone) it all works. The phone is recognized, paired and I can browse it's internal memory and the external memory stick. But as soon as iSync attempts to connect to it I get the error.

Can anyone help? I would REALLY HIGHLY appreciate any help I can get! Thanks

Have you updated the phones firmware to the very latest one available?

You need a Windows PC to do this using the Sony Ericsson Update Service, available from the SE Support web-page.

I have tried doing that on my friend's PC but after following all the instructions and getting a message like "impossible to establish connection with the phone" several times I have given up...
Can you tell me what the latest version of the firmware is so I can see which one my phone has?

R6D23 works with iSync. The latest is R6E28.

I tried with a PC to upgrade it but it didn't work. Can somebody help me with that?
Is there anyone that has specific instructions on how to upgrade the firmare?
Is there anyone in NY that can do it for me?
