I got this phone from ebay about a month ago. It was working fine all along. But then I left the phone alone for a week, and today when I turned it on, it was just blinking an empty black and white screen on startup. It doesn't even get the chance to show the SE logo. The first few times, it also keeps vibrating, but now, it just blinks the black and white screen & doesn't vibrate anymore. There's no way for me to turn the phone off. The only way is for me to remove the batteries.

Is there anyway for me to fix it? I really hope it's not dead yet. I only owned it for about a month. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

seems like something went wrong with the firmware in ur phone ....
I guess u can correct it by doing a firmware update using the sony ericsson update utility .... If ur phone is getting detected , then u can easly update ....

try it ... almost sure that it will work .... gud luck mate ...

Flash your firmware. That is common for the W900s doing that after being innactive for a week or more . Flashing firmware would do the trick .

How do I go about flashing my firmware? This is like a foreign language to me. Do I need certain software program or tools or open up the phone?

May I also ask where do I get "sony ericsson update utility"? Is this in the CD that comes with the phone?

Is this what happens if the phone is inactive for just a week? That seems to be pretty annoying to fix everytime the phone is inactive. Thanks for any help.

No, it hasn't. The phone was just left on my desk.

Download a program named XS++. and a firmware for your phone:

xs++ can be found on www.se-nse.com

firmware can be found here I hope:

http://www.iprotebe.cz/

or www.topsony.com but topsony is not free :S.

Then you can start flashing your phone with XS++
