Bought a P1i on monday, and I have been noticing something strange about the screen since the first boot. In the middle of the statusbar on top of the screen, sometimes there are several pixels that don't update correctly. It looks like artifacts, to use a word better known from the computer world. It's not the same pixels everytime, and the artifacts appear in different patterns. Some of the artifacts disappear after a short period of time, but som stay until i open a program og change the view on the screen. The problem is confined to a certain area on the screen.

Have anybody else experienced this on their P1i, og do you think my phone is broken? Any thoughts and experiences is welcome...

yup, happened sometimes with hi-res picture, when opened with the picture gallery, there's a short period of delay before moving to the next pictures on certain spot or edge, i guess it's something to do with the speed of processing the colors instead of a problematic screen, not really a big deal since it doesn't always happen and if it does, itsn't always at the same spot and i'd hardly notice it

On my phone it happens very often when I'm just browsing/navigating around the phone. It has nothing to do with hi-res pictures.

So I believe what you experience is another issue, but thanks for the input.

Here are pictures of the artifacts:

You may check if those are dead pixels.

There are 3 kinds (on, off and blinking) and u can do the following in order to find out if those are dead (sub)pixels or if it is another problem with your screen:

Create two images in paint on your pc (240x320), one filled black and one filled white. Save them in jpg format and upload them to your phone. Open the images in fullscreen mode and check that part of your screen (black for on + blinking, white for off).

Edit: Can't check the pics you've sent while I was writing my post, since I'm on mobile. Will check at home...

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but I couldn't see anything wrong. Both the black and white images display without any artifacts. I think I will take the phone back to the store and demand a new phone... Besides, the store has a 30 days money back offer, and I think I will use it to get a new phone... Hopefully that will be better...

They look like dead pixels. Take your phone back and get a new one.

that's definetely not a dead pixel, it's rather faulty pixels, those groups of pixels are slow in movement, hence that caused artifacts. when the temperature is getting too cold and some part of your screen in handicap, in a way that it doesn't act as normal pixels do under the circumstances

you have done the best possible thing mate,

btw, just for a thought, a dead pixel is a pixel which is completely blank under any color, while the faulty ones, it's a pixel, one or more that shows different color from what it's supposed to, or sometime, it stays the same color and fails to change, mainly green, white, blue and red (it's normal for a LCD monitor or TV to experience a faulty pixel)
