The thing is, when I'm on the phone with someone it sounds as if the speaker is distorted, as if there is some resonance or vibration. I find it hard to explain but it IS quite annoying sometimes. Can be fixed by lowering the volume but especially in noisier environments that's not really an option.
Main question, does anyone know what I mean?

or experience something similar/have an idea for the solution. Opening up the phone too see if I can fix the speaker (make sure it's locked firmly in position) is not really an option for me I'm afraid hehe.
Warranty is always an option of course but well, have to think if that's worth it (being without the phone for a while)... Cheers.

I've always written that off on network conditions - but.. this sounds crazy, I guess, but I'd been using a mono- sampled mp3 as a message- tone for a while. And when I connected the headset, it didn't play the tone properly. Then I took off the handsfree, and it played fine again. And on a whim, I changed it to a mono right- channel sound, and it played fine.
So.. maybe it's possible there's something going on when voice- streams are upsampled to play on the phone, in whatever format it uses for playback? I.e, that the phone generates additional noise on lower bitrates?

@nipsen:
Sounds interesting! But I'm afraid I can't make the p1i play an mp3 sounding as if someone is calling me. I mean, either it blows out of the speaker or it's silent. Could try it with a headset though and see how a call sounds through the headset... If that sounds fine it's really prolly the phone speaker at fault.

I know what you mean, I have a W200i with exactly the same problem. It's probably the ear speaker itself, and it will need replacing so would be a warranty job.

Hmmm, that's crappy... will have to think about it a little if I find it bad enough to send the phone back. Any ideas on how long such a thing would usually take? (ie. how long I'd be without my sweet P1i

)

I have exactly the same problem, when i transfer a call to speakerphone, half of the time the speaker sounds majorly distorted, i used to have the same issue on my p990i. Its incredible how SE have managed to saddle me up with old p990i firmware/hardware bugs.

Wait, I'm not talking about speakermode... I mean it happens when just calling normally. Just with the internal speaker (simply when holding the phone agains my ear old-school style

)
