Straight from my news article at se-nse.

The big five manufacturers have agreed to conform to one charging plug - mini USB. Unfortunately this only applies to charger plugs, not accessories. Also this will mean that all the manufacturers will share the same plug for connecting to a computer.

Currently only Motorola and Nokia have some mini-USB equipped phones, but the other three manufacturers look poised to also make the switch to the unified standard. There's no date, but it looks to be immediate, so expect the changes to come in with the next generation of phones - within a year.

What does this mean for SE?
SE will probably still keep their Fastport along with a mini USB port as well, at least for the meantime, so that they can continue to make money of custom accessories, and that we can continue to use the ones that we've purchased, i.e. headphones/handsfree, desktop stands etc.

But ain't it great, now we can finally switch manufacturers without having to worry about having three or four different chargers or data cables. Though I wouldn't really know why you'd switch from SE anyway
