> P1i Contacts Full Text Search
Bookmark topic
Hi everyone,
Now i've just bought a P1i and i am considering bringing it back because i have around 1000 contacts and i cannot find a way to search through my contacts as i was doing it on my P900. It seems that the full text search function is not available anymore????
Imagine you don't remember a guy's name but just the company where he works, when you type the company name in the search field on the P900 you get all contacts that woks in this company and it's easy to find your guy's name therafter. This search functinnality is not possible on the P1i !!!
You can only search for persons by First names !!!
i think this is a step back for SE P series.
OK now, can you tell is it possible to have this on my P1i and how ?
Little precision, i think that i have the latest Firmware
Phone Version CXC162143 R9H004
Bluetooth Version CXC162143 R1D
Organizer Version CXC162108 R6E30
CDA Version R6E29
Thanks for your precious support.
Sanboo.

By default you can't... But there is a program called DreamConnect (substitutes the default address book) which allows you to search as you would expect. (Don't know for sure if it searches through all fields btw... but does allow you to search for any letter in the name for example).

Thanks Dagrim,
i've just found two contact managers for UIQ3, one of them is DreamConnect by DreamSpring the other is StarContact by Starobject.
Here is the link where i found them.
http://my-symbian.com/uiq3/software/search.php?search=Starobject.
Question, do you have a trial or link to that application so that i can try it to check if it works fine?
Then i'll send a feedback for others.
Thanks.
Is Sony Ericsson planning to enhance that search feature for P1 considering that it was working fine under P900 and P910 ?? ...

The default search mode already includes the company name while searching.
If u would like to search in fields other than name and company, tap the arrow next to contacts > find > tap the arrow next to find and choose 'all fields', then search..

That only works if you have the company in the sort criteria. If you only have Name and Surname (my favorite) no way it searchs by Company. I don't understand ths 2nd hlaf of your comment. Where on earth do you have the "Find" menu?

The P990i has a 'find' function with two options, 'name & company' and 'all fields'.
Doesn't the P1i have that ?
And when you tap the arrow next to 'Find' you get the options:

Nope.
(btw, if people would sign their names on that particular feature request in the wiki, that would be nice).
