Hey guys, I need some advice tonight.
I recently sold a faulty phone on ebay.
a w880i which had a broken microphone, the buyer paid with paypal and was unverified, but I agreed to post anyway. I sent the phone RMSD to an address in Droylsden and the tracking information says it was delivered to an address there last week.
However the buyer says they never recieved it, and have filed a complaint, they have started a chargeback (money on temporary hold).
Tonight they phoned me up and told me a sympathy tale of their son who has asthma and for that reason they need to keep in contact with each other all the time. They said that they had previously sold their old phone and were waiting on my one, even though the microphone was bust. They wanted me to refund them the payment, but I declined.
Anyway, the bottom line is that they wish me to claim via royal mail, but I don't know If I will be successful.
Questions:
1) Can RMSD be tracked to an exact address it was delivered to?
2) Will I win the chargeback claim, assuming I sent it to the address they gave me via tracked post?
3) has anyone got any advice or been in a similar position to this?
4) If so, what was the outcome?
5) will I be able to claim off royal mail even though they delivered it?
The thing that really bugs me is that the buyer claimed that they could not affoard a new phone and needed the money refunded immediately. Fair enough, i appreciate this is a conern to them, but mobile phones can be bought for as little as 10 pounds, and Im sure they could find a emergency phone for the time being from a friend, more so the fact that the phone was sold as faulty, they knew that, so what use would it have been?
Rant over...

ring royal mail and they should tell you when and where it was delivered and who signed for it...then show that info to paypal and you should hopefully win the debate....they will be lyeing probably about not receiveing and the thing about their son....if you gotta keep in constant contact why buy a phone which is needing a mic?

Royal Mail will not deliver a spec del item to any address other than the address you put on the parcel, so yes it can be tracked...
I wouldn't claim off Rm though, they did their job.. parcel has been signed for...
as much as it pains me to say this, you will have to fight with paypal... (I effing hate paypal)
good luck matey! you're defo gonna need it...

They take a few days to upload the signature, so by monday I should have an idea fo who signed for it. I have already submitted tracking info, my only worry is that it is not a confirmed/verified postal address.

If u get the signature tho... and it seems that indeed the phone was delivered to and received by your buyer, u could then raise an unauthorised activity claim at paypal?
yeah, but u r dead right... if the address wasn't a confirmed one...

Paypal are awful but even they can't dispute that the phone wasn't delivered to the buyer's address if you used RMSD.
It doesn't matter if whoever signed for the phone used a fake signature even. If they try to claim that a stranger waited outside and signed for the parcel and then ran off with it, it's the buyers problem, not yours. Even Royal mail cannot be held responsible since it is against the rules for their staff to hand the parcel over to somebody who claims to live at an address without proof, and is a sackable offence. My brother in law is a postman, btw
You will win this dispute in the end, just stand your ground and don't give up:-)

You have no chance! I had the same problem, paypal argue the dispute with the credit card company not you and i dont even think they bother! I had a chargeback for £165 and lost even though i had proof of postage! Paypal said it was my fault for sending it to an unconfirmed address! They do warn you that you're not covered. I have bailiffs on me now because i haven't paid it all yet and they have locked my account! Paypal is a joke!
