What is the difference between the two handsets, gd87 & 88? Is the gd88 the chinese version ?

yes.... GD87 is meant for the European market and GD88 is for the Asian market

I have the GD88 which supports Chinese characterts. However, when I sync via IR to my laptop, it says GD87, strange!
