ok, i got the ericsson mp3 player earlier today. firstly i find out that the drivers arent compatible on windows xp, so i think ok, i'll just search esato and they should have a solution. i tried doing the solution listed (where i delete the iconfig) and the removeable drive shows up.
now the drive is telling me that the disk has been formatted but windows wont let me do it. i try to reinstall the drivers and they start crashing, so basically i'm stick with a $150 piece of shit sitting on my table.
in this day and age you'd expect ericsson to make it USB - simple and effective, but they use parellel ports - technology over 10 years old

the question is why should i bother?
its not like windows xp is some arcane operating system like OS/2 or something.
its the latest and the best out there and bloody ericsson dont want to support it.
i have paid good money for a mp3 player solution and i expect it to work.

You can use any MMC reader/writer that has USB connection.
After all, the MP3 player utilises a standard MMC..

The MP3 player has few years on its neck, XP didn't exist when it was released.

i dont think you understand what i'm trying to say - i have bought this device from ericsson. i EXPECT it to work as it says it will.
it is unacceptable that ericsson do not provide support for windows xp.

It does work with XP you just have to download new drivers. Just search Esato. Or check for example this thread:

Then why anyone runs XP is beyond me. I think it suxx... but that's my opinion. Win2k is much better.

i am saying that i should have NO extra cost to make it work. i'm not after extra speed or any fancy features. i'm just after basic functionality - and i'm not even getting this. this is what i'm angry about.

imagine this - you go and buy a new car and when you get home you find out that the engine is not compatible with the fuel in your country. imagine how pissed off you'd be.

its not hard for me to go out and buy a ussb reader, but i'm extremely dissapointed with ericsson.
