i just turn on the camera and hold it in autofocus mode with the flash on, serves as a torch, other than that i dont think its possible, unless u have a java app or sumthing that could activate the LEDs

Or just buy a keyring torch for a couple of bucks! Using your phone is a geeky thing to do boys.

"Geeky thing to do"?.... I have to disagree! I currently own a W850i and have used the flashlight function on it from time to time. When I have had a need for a flashlight (like recently, when I went to the theatre for a play) I looked like total hero to my lady using it to guide her up the stairs to our seats! Why should I have to carry a flashlight on my keyring when my phone serves that function too? I already use it as my primary MP3 player and camera! To each there own...

I agree, I used to use my W810's torch quite often in my garage.
The point is to carry less, not buy and carry with you every conceivable gadget at all times just in case.
That's the point of camera phones, pda phones etc etc
It would be totally cool if someone could write a little code to do this...

I use the led very often to, or the screen to find my way in dark rooms =)
my w900 has "light" in the meny along with a prerecorder SOS flash so i i am ever in need i can use the led signal =)
and yeah camera mode, light always on? i have that funktion in my w900 anyway.

exactly the point dude... why would you want to carry a separate flashlight and your phone when it can do the same thing as both... just need a java app to do it though (for the moment)

In my opinion then it's more geeky to carry around a keyring torch.
But yeah I can't see why

didn't include the torch feature in the P1i... Hopefully someone has the time to write a small app for it... it would be real handy... and even better when we would assign it to a simple button with
LongCuts
Or we can hope

realizes that this feature is missing and adds it in a firmware update.

Can imagine it has something to do with wear and tear... Keeping the lights on all the time increases temperature and possibilities things go broke perhaps.
