Hi all, newbie here so please be gentle

Basically i bought a k800i of my cousin for cheap as he didnt use it and it got a problem, and as he didnt have the receipt he couldnt take it back..
The problem is that the sound for the music, rintones etc doesnt work, but when some1 rings you can hear them, am i right in i need to replace the speaker??Not to worried if so as you get these for a fiver of ebay, the problem is how to get to it, do i have to take the whole of the housing off to get to the speaker??

Also i read somewhere that the updated software may sort this problem out, but i cant really see how..anywho, any help would be appreciated..thanks guys

let it check in a service then and let change the aerial by experts. u can also let it do in an independent mobile shop, if the warranty is over

Check the firmware version by pressing this combination of keys when you are at the standby screen:

If that doesn't help, changing the speaker will solve the problem. As you mentioned speaker works when receiving calls only. Most of the phones have "2" speakers at the back side. One is used for playing sounds from phone (mp3 and etc...) and the other is much smaller speaker called "ringer" which works only in your case so that's why you can hear sound only when someone is calling you.

Replacing the speaker is not that hard in my opinion. I'm not 100% sure if you have to remove the whole housing, but K800 housing is made of 2 parts only. The front and the back pannel (plus battery cover ) which are not that hard to remove. So I think anyone can change the speaker itself...

But, after all, if you are afraid of breaking the expensive parts, let the phone be checked from service centre.

When you see your wallpaper & network operator name, or press & hold back button from the menu. Just enter the code & ignore what happens to your screen. You'll get service menu. = joystick right.
