Good people of Esato: It's been a while, and soon I may be back.
I left my aggravating W810i behind for a Nokia E50 a few months back. I've since discovered that S60 is great for PDA functionality IMO, but for mobile telephony, it lags that great

UI. I've also learned something about myself: I don't need S60, especially now that J2ME offers so many apps.
My E50 also spoiled me on QVGA resolution - I can't go back to 176x220. Given that, and the American need for the 850 MHz band, I have two

choices: a K790a or an S500i. My only dislikes of the former are its age and tri-band connectivity. As for the latter, the neverending keypad issue is a real turn-off; I never, ever want to deal with SE-USA's warranty service again.
I realize the K850i is just around the corner, but I suspect it will be incredibly expensive @ release + a long while after. The aforementioned phones, OTOH, are each available new and SIM-free for well under $300 USD.
What are your thoughts, experiences, etc.?

I'm starting to remember one of the reasons I left Esato.
Thanks for all the responses

Guess I'll get the new N95-3 (with US-3G) instead.

Sure, go get it. But that would require changing the topic title, wouldn't it? Then it should be "Turning back to the dark side (Nokia!!!)".

S500 and K790a are too different phones.
S500- If you want a fasion phone
K790a- Camera.
I advice you to take K790a because:
1- camera
2- better quilty build
3- buisness look
4- strong battery.
I got for my brother K800i today ,and I can say I'm very impressed (I got myself w800 and N80 and I think K800 is better than altough N80 is symbian and got WiFi).

I have the k790 and the thing I love is that I have a camera everywhere I go, say you are at a bar and want to take a picture of one of your friends shitfaced, you have a decent camera with a flash right there in your k790...

He he. You'll be happy with the K790a, its got a mean camera and interface. I too will be ditching my smartphone for a featurephone soon.
Welcome back.

I'd advise against the K800/K790. I've seen many with peeling keypad and it looks terrible. Not to mention the color peeling off from the lens cover too. If you can afford the N95 then surely get that one.

You don't get it, do you?
I'm considering leaving S60 for

again. The 2 phones I originally posted are my best options. I ask you - the supposed experts - about this, and get no replies for almost a week. How am I supposed to feel?
Anyway, I think I'm better off waiting for the K850i to become available in the USA. (And then wait a bit more to come down in price.

phones depreciate quickly!) It'll be an interesting comparison with the N95-3, as each has its strengths and weaknesses.
It sounds like the K790a, despite its (non-trivial) maturity, has a few issues remaining. Not to mention its lack of Quad-band connectivity. And the S500i, from a physical standpoint, sounds like junk; I sure don't want to tangle with

warranty service again.
