> Can I format Memory Card NTFS?
Bookmark topic
I have a 4GB Memory Card in my K800i and have Google Map tiles of the entire UK on my phone. The size is 279MB in 74,000 files, 903 folders! The problem is that the "size on disk" is 2.28GB due to the small size of the files.
Can I format this card NTFS to reduce the "size on disc"?
Thanks in advance

You can format the disk in windows to NTFS but the phone will not recognise the card. The phone only recognises FAT file systems

Thanks for the reply, but bugger!
Do you know if it is it possible to format FAT and reduced the sectorsize to try to overcome this problem?
Thanks in advance

You can't format NTFS to your Memory Card AFAIK...
But you can try FAT32

You can change the default allocation unit size using the command "format volume: /FS: FAT32 /A:size" in Windows, where "volume" is the drive letter and "size" is the allocation unit size you require. A list of valid sizes can be found by typing "format /?".

Thanks for that. I formatted the card Fat32 in my PC and it sorted out my problems.
