> p990i problem with memory stick
Bookmark topic
Hi
I have just bought p990i and i have bought 4gb sony memory stick pro duo. and now i have problem with connecting through usb mass storage when i have this card in it (when i use 64mb which came with phone, everything is fine). I have upgraded fw to latest one. But still the same(i thought it's unsupported...). I think phone can work with the card, i have copied things from internal memory to the card, but i simply cannot through mass storage. BUT it is possible to copy files through SE PC Suite. I also could with a little difficulties copy files to the card through card reader ([in vista]even though sometimes when i created directories, it made a 23gb direcotory with some crazy named files in it...which was like wtf, the card is only 4gb, then i couldn't delete the directory in computer but only in phone...) so i was thinking if the card isn't faulty.
Anyone had problem like this?

Yes, sounds like a fake card to me too. Most cards on ebay are fakes! Sadly but true!
You can use another card from a friend or a store and see if you have the same problems. Any card, even 8GB like I use now, works flawless and just fine in the P990i.
If not, then the first thing to look out for is if the card is a fake!
Regards

It's quite true, most memory sticks on ebay are fakes. To prove my point, bring your memory stick to a sony retail outlet, compare it with the ones sold there, there would be a noteable difference in build quality, font style and even in the design (size-wise and even different creases at different places). You be surprised at how hi-tech the swindlers and scoundrels of the world have become.

AFAIK, I've never come across a fake sandisk, so you've got a better chance for it being genuine than a sony mspd. IMHO, sandisk memorysticks are way more problem-free than sony ones. Unfortunately for me, 8gb sandisks aren't out yet. If there are any out there, they're definitely the elusive fakes I was talking about.
