Bookmark topic
I am not happy.
Yesterday I have bought new p990i. And all works great, but not WiFI. Well It just won't see it. I have open WiFi in my house. No encryption, visible and all. But my cell won't see it. It says "no access points available". Then I have tried to search by SSID, and that failed also. Then I tryed to hide SSID on router settings, and then use "find SSID" on my p990i...it didn't work also.
I like this phone, it looks great. But I would like to use WiFI. I plan to call customes support in Croatia tomorrow.
Can anyone give me a hint what to do? I see that a lot of ppl here have same problem with WiFi.
I would really appreciate any hint.
Thanky you,
Miljenko
PS. I have also played with turning on and off power saving mode. And it didn't have effect at all.

It's true that lots of people here, especially P1i users, are having problems with wifi connections.
But your problem is different, as your device doesn't even 'find' any access point, not even your home network.
Therefore it is most likely that your device has a defective wlan hardware.
You could try a reflash before returning it to the shop, but I doubt that this is being caused by the software.

Maybe your wifi router is set to 'g'?
P990i only supports 802.11b, NOT the more popular g.
So you'll need to make sure it runs on b or b/g

How can I do that? Router settings or?

Yes, it will be in your router's web-based control panel. Usually on the 'basic settings' page or similar.

If you haven't installed any wlan software on your pc (which usually provides a shortcut), typing 192.168.2.1 in your explorer's address bar should give you access to your router settings.
This is the IP address for most of the routers.
If that doesn't work, check the manual of your router.

True, the P990i only supports b, but that does not mean that you won't be able to find the access points which are set to 'g only'.
You can still find them, but you can't connect.

Well if anyone's got any new suggestions please let us all know(all ppl that have same problem with one of the best feature that p990i has).
Thanky you all for posting your posts...
p.s MYRTH I have read your post, and that is most certanly an option. I am not sayig that you are wrong, but I am still exploring other options in case that it is not broken. But how things are looking now, it seems that you are right...
