Well, I have the p1i and really do like the Opera4 mini beta 2 browser (although it still has it's bugs) but I noticed that the speed of the browser is very slow compared to the built in opera mobile browser.

It just sits at 'progressiing' for many seconds while the built in browser really displays the pages quickly. Also disabling images and all doesn't help all that much. Anyone with the same experience or ideas how to fix it?

All with my WLAN connection at home...

If you understand how Opera Mini works, you will understand why it shows 'processing' for a few seconds.

Check the website.

Hmmm, you're right... I do understand now. On the other hand, an option of direct connection instead of 'through server connection' would be nice because this way the 'fast browsing' is not true at all for me and considering the fact I use the WLAN connection the data transfer isn't a problem either...

Ah well, atleast I understand the reason now Cheers

because most wifi enabled phones have versions of opera mobile available or their own browser, opera mini is tailored for regulard 'dumb' phones.

Opera mobile 9 should be out soon. I think it will be launched in tandem with Opera desktop 10 since they'll be shifitng to a new core by then.

I hope they do. The people at Opera are generally nice about supporting as many platforms plus the phone they have in the banner distinictly looks like an m600 or a p1i.

They did launch the desktop 9.5 alpha. Maybe once the final 9.5 is out they'll issue opera mobile 9. But i recon they would wait till opera 10.

I can't understand why you preffer a Java app which is limited and slower when you have a full blown html browser...
Anyway, one of the reasons the Opera Mini is slower is that the cache is only a fraction ofthe one available on the normal version.
