Hello
I'm tired of searching and I can't find any application that does this for the P990:

I need a software - any software - (java or UIQ3) that lets me insert a GPS waypoint (example: N 38° 42.621 W 009° 08.092) and tells me the distance and direction I am from the waypoint, with 1 meter precision.
Help?

I need this for GeoCaching.
Thank you

I already asked the developer for the functionality I wrote here, but the developer said that unfortunately it can't do that.

Developer's e-mail:

From: "Cristian Streng"
Hi,
This feature is not included in MGMaps, but you can probably find it in
other mobile applications (which don't have mapping). I will include it
however in a future version.

Cristian

I see what you mean.

Wayfinder 7 does what you want but as far as I know u need license for that.

I don't care if I have to pay, that's not a problem
The problem is that there are zero programs that do that for UIQ 3.0.
Even if wayfinder does that, it's an overkill application for what I need.

That is a mess. It shows the direction and distance as you want but you can't enter the position you want
What a shame! You can get the position tough

I can't try the programme right know due to lack of access from my office. I'll try that when I go back home. I'll inform you if there is a way to do that

I tried to do it and I kinda manage to do that.
Unfortunately the distance it gives is calculates the roads. But you can see the direction tough.

It can't be that difficult

But it is!
First of all GeoCahing is made off-road.
Reached the location I need *precise* distance and direction, with 1 meter accuracy, otherwise I will not find the cache.
Do you know GeoCaching?
I mean, like I'm stading here and it tells me the waypoint coords are 3 meters from where I'm standing, in the SW direction.
That's how precise it needs to be.
Thanks for all the effort anyway

I'm not going to let you go that easily

Here is a site that calculates everything you need:
http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html

All you have to do that enter the destination you want and the position that you get from the GPS device.

I hope this will be helpful.
