> P1i- Possible to boost music volume ?
Bookmark topic
my last phone was a w700i and obviously iam having problems with the volume of the music/radio of the p1i . i know it woudnt be fair to compare with the W series but i was wondering if anyone has managed to boost the volume of the music player ? (through headphones). i have tried to use lcg jukebox but there was no difference in the volume levels
actually i wonder why they havent provided a custom equalizer mode

, even that could help matters if we could prep up the equalizer manually .
acoustic mod'ing could be a solution, but i havent seen any mod packs for the p1i....
so guys, any suggestions to pep up the volumes level of the music through headphones on the p1i
Please: this post is not for people to tell me that
i) for them the volumes are loud enough and how loud would i want it to be!
ii) its always that way in the P series
iii) to spend money to buy a uber-duber handsfree
(dont bash me for this, take it in a lighter vein folks

)

I had a m600 and a w950 and I had the same problem with the volume,I sold them and bought a w850 and the volume is way too loud, anyways about your P1,my solution is to download MP3GAIN and boost the volume of your mp3 files between 99 and 102 and use disc2phone and use 160 or 192 convertion.

I sold my P990i and P1i because of this issue. SE were no help whatsoever and told me to "turn up the volume on your handset" - Bastards!!!
All UIQ3 phones so far have abyzmally low volume. Even using MP3 gain to bumpt the volume up on MP3's is no good as they distort and crack when being played back on the P1i. LCG have been repeatedly asked to put in a volume boost (like powermp3 for UIQ2) but just ignore everybody. The actual output from LCG is lower than the built in player.
Alon is louder but the player uses all the CPU and keeps crashing.
I got rid of both my P990i and P1i because of the extremely low volume both on wired and BT. Back to the P910i and it's kickin'
SE have let everybody down on this issue and just ignore all requests to call centres as there is no problem.
No more SE for me!

I have recently bought a pair of noise cancelling headphones (sony MDR-NC22 for less than half price at Argos at the moment) which make a huge difference and are a lot better for you, they basically allow you to listen at the music at much lower levels whilst cancelling out the background noise, great when travelling by public transport.
As a tinnitus sufferer I would strongly recommend not to play your music too loud, I know it makes me sound like an old fart, but having had really loud ringing in my ears 24/7 for over 16 years and never to be able to really enjoy silence anymore, I wouldn't wish that to anyone. Mainly thanks to listening to my old walkman (casette) for too long and too loud, unfortunately noise cancelling headphones were a thing of the distant future then....

I suspect

are keen to avoid future lawsuits for damaged hearing! That is almost certainly why they ignor requests to increase the volume of their phones output.
My hearing has been irrevocably damaged through not wearing proper ear protection at the race track in the past, thus I find the volume on most devices rather poor.
Perhaps the fact you find the volume on your device insufficient, is a warning that you may have played previous devices too loudly and have sustained some damage, I hope not for your sake, as I have been advised that my problem will get progressivly worse as I age.

I have had 2 medicals in the past year, both with hearing tests and passed both perfectly. I just like to have a bit of overhead for quieter tracks. Even with the P1i at 100% permanently there's just not enough oomph in my opinion. Compared to the P910i it is very poor indeed (and it's another SE handset!)

My P1i has a louder volume than my w850 and its the loudest between all the P series cellphones that I have owned, louder as well than the W950 of my friend... We'll wait and see as I have read somewhere that the W960 will be the loudest.
