Well so far we have seen tiny 8Gb memory cards, 10 years ago you was doing yourself proud to have a PC with 1Gb harddrive. My point being, with the space availabe in a laptop, why don't you see hard-wired flashdrives for harnessing the O/S and data? For speed one 5Gb flash for the O/S and 50+ larger flash's for the data, Its bound to be more reliable too.

@Lo-couk
It is in the November issue of T3 and is called the Red Submarine S664 Digital Audio Laptop, but i wouldn't buy the mag just for the information on it. As besides saying it has 64GB of Flash memory and is near silent and light that's all it says but it's price is an eye watering £1,875 but is out now.
Actually when you go there you have to configure it from a base model to have this flash drive the link below should take you straight there and then use the drop down list for internal drives to select the 64GB SATA 2.5" Laptop SSD Samsung internal drive. You can also customise it quite a bit but as a base package comes with a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.00GHZ/4MB CPU, 512mb DDR 667MHz Laptop Memory, DVD/CDRW and is running Windows XP Professional SP2 and a 17" screen. Although there are many other options to change it to that will push the price up even higher. It does appear to be aimed at musicians.

@batesie
Fair enough but it has double that drive and as my post is now updated to show what else the base package consists of and except for the amount of Ram is IMO pretty well specified.
As you have pointed out how much half the size drive costs it actually now doesn't seem that expensive after all as even if you assume the drive only costs double that is £550 for just the drive and i would imagine it would be more than that. As it's not a build yourself kit so of course all the other components and the thing that makes all products expensive profit all adds up. Plus of course it is one of the first large Flash Drive Laptops i have so far seen being produced so obviously they are charging a premium for this.

as i already have a SATA HDD in my laptop, its a straight swap if i want one.
its also half the weight and has 5 times the shock resistance as my Seagate....
EDIT: aparrently only equipment manufacters (Dell, gear4, etc) can buy the 64Gb drive at the moment. at least consumers can go ahead and buy the 32Gb if they want one right now....
