Just an idea; I am sick of people saying that the phone is cheaper here, or not worth as much as the seller is asking, it ruins sales so much that people close the thread themselves!

Would it be a good idea to give people who post messages like this a 24/48Hour ban from the selling forums???

What do you think?

I agree that no thread spoiling should be allowed and mods should delete any such posts but with only the following exception:

"The only exception to this is if you see the EXACT item priced higher than available new elsewhere. In this case a third-party can make a post but ONLY in the following format: LINK TO MERCHANT - PRICE. No comments, just the facts. This must be the final price (after VAT/shipping)"

I think however that only people who continue to thread spoil after having their posts deleted and getting a warning should be banned, even if only for a short time.

I disagree actually, it can be a tad annoying for sellers when sales threads go offtopic BUT anyone who points out that a device can be had cheaper elsewhere AND can provide links to prove it deserves a medal not a ban IMO.
I'm infinitly more concerned by devious and underhand bids by PM!!

This is indeed sick and disgusting. If one has a negative feeling about anything sold, it is better to pm the authour of the thread. What are pms for then if people cant use them in one of the ppopreate areas. In concksion, I dont like the ide of people spoiling threads. If not interested dont even go or click on the thread. CHEERS, NO HARD FEELINGS.

My initial thoughts on this were similar to gregface's but on reflection, it is the seller's responsibility to research current prices for new and used versions of their item and set their prices accordingly.

Threadjacking of 'for sale' threads with links to cheaper items is annoying but it is also in the interest of Esato members and so I don't think it should be punished. Maybe a PM to the trader would be better than posting the link?

Exatcly my point @cyco. If one sees sonething that is some how wrong, just pm the dealer other than making it a public statement.

Lets imagine that i have a mint, sim free K800i for sale, and i advertise it on here, and i have the brass neck to say bids FROM £110 please.
SOME people know, not everybody though, that you could get the same NEW from CPW for £100, if some kind soul posts that fact in an effort to stop potential buyers being ripped off, it serves ME right for being such a greedy bastard IMO.

i agreee with mweb6161

if someone is trying to sell a phone for more than you can get it brand new why not do the right thing and just show a link and say its brand new here.nothing else

The best way IMO is to just PM the seller if you find a better price etc and then it is up to them to change the price.

I often do this and have been thanked many times as the seller may not be aware of these other deals elsewhere. In fact it has lead to me getting some great deals, instead of just getting abuse for thread jacking.
