Only if SE release it as part of a firmware upgrade.

I may be wrong, but I think SE only releases a new UIQ everytime they need a new functionality in their *next* phone that the current UIQ does not support (extra keys, for example)

Meaning, the new UIQ will most probably be targeted for new models only.

Um.. I guess it's not entirely untrue to say that the uiq version number could be similar to a.. car- model of some sort? And the firmware version of the phone would be the year- model, maybe, or the new and improved versions. And then a new uiq version would be a new car of the same make as the first one. But that car would have a different look and all the same parts - except the steering mechanism would be incompatible with the first one. Er.. in the way that you could use all the same components on the car, since they're identical, except for the steering module..? And if we wanted to use an updated year- model component on one of the cars, we'd have to disassemble the entire car and build it up from the bottom again (which you need special tools for).

(That really sounded a lot more clever when I began to write...)

lol

With the new UIQ 3.1 there will probably be also a new Symbian OS version attached.
(I'm just guessing)
