Change alarm sound volume: Tools > Control panel > Device > Sounds & alerts > Alarms.
Also make sure that the sound level in the chosen MP3 file is not too low.

@abu - I've just made a double-check with your suggestion matey . . . there's NO problem with the original ALERT-volume-settings as it was placed in - maximum

Also, when I play MP3 songs the sound is set on LOUD too . . . it's just only when hearing the sound on the - alarm clock, not the LOUD even when the setting was placed on - maximum

!

I can't check this myself ATM as my P990i has gone back into it's box temporarily while I'm playing with my new E61i.
(Note that I say "temporarily"! S60 is a bit of a disappointment compared to UIQ3. At least the version on the E61i, i.e. without FP1.)

@abu - OK, thanks again ! For the others . . . . . . does CHOOSING the SOUND-style (default, jazz, megabass etc.) has an effect on the sound of the alarm-clock

I chose the- MegaBass sound that's why . . .

I would like to get an answer on this issue as well.
The alarm sound is way tooo low for me to get up. especially when you leave the phone beside you on the bed, where the speaker is muffled by the bed.
Please give us your 2 cents on this issue.

I remember to have read that in the service menu you can double the audio volume.

Actually it's been discussed 1000 times before. It's a software bug and you have to update. Use a really short tone to sound ok and loud.
