Hello,

I understand there is no real player or windows media player available for UIQ. Is there any software that can play BBC radio or video on P1i? Can I achieve that by just installing some codecs?

Thanks very much!

I believe the built in media player is basically a cut down real player, you could try just browsing to the bbc site and playing the videos directly.

[EDIT] I pointed my web browser at bbc.co.uk and have played the news headlines using the built in media viewer app. This is via the normal BBC mobile site, attempting to open the main BBC site designed for desktops still doesn't work.

Ummmm why would you want to download windows media player? there isn't one for uiq3.....

Anyway, when browsing the BBC website (desktop edition) if you click to watch a video and then click to open in a stand alone player you can save the file which you then get presented with and play that file as normal using the media viewer in the p1. I have tested this and the .ram file you get plays as normal and streams properly......

I'm pretty sure the orginal P990 whitepaper said that the default media player played RealMedia.
Don't know if it was implemented though...

There are two files called 'xxx.ram' installable from BBC website. One for radio and the other is for video. Both are based on RealPlayer. Can work on any symbian system. I can send these to your Email if available

Yes, thanks, you are right. I actually downloaded the file and tried to play it in the standalone player and failed. This time I downloaded the standard instead of high quality video file, then it played. So, either the 802.1b or the basic built in player is not up to the high quality streaming.

Does coreplayer have better support of both real and windows media streaming? Is it free to use?

Another question, does anyone know how to do a "right click on the link then choose save the link as" action with the built in web browser?

Many thanks!
Thanks!
