I have a K800i and i'm not familiar with this "My friends" option that you can access through the messaging menu.

Maybe it's just in New Zealand that it is unheard of, perhaps it's a network specific thing.

Anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks.

A quick look at Wikipedia will also give a list of alternative and beta IM clients. Try searching for IMPS (instant messaging presence services)

Are you able to register in smartvas? I can't find any option to register on the website of smartvas.
