...Allow consumers to purchase a licensing agreement that would then allow the consumer to sync their none Apple MP3 player to iTunes, much like Apple currently does now with iPhoto and all third party cameras?... I mean, I know that iPod's, and now the iPhone to a certain extent, are cash cows for Apple; but how much would it hurt Apple's business model to allow consumers to purchase the iTune's licensing rights for a particular device for about say $50 (per player) that would then let iTunes play nice with say something like a Sony Walkman (or at the very least give the user basic access to iTunes and that particular consumer's purchased copyrighted music!)? Imagine being able to connect your Walkman phone, or Creative Zen music player to your iTune's account, and then having your Mac or iTunes enabled PC sync all of your music while also allowing the consumer to play all of their protected iTune's music on the consumer's chosen device (they could do it)! Even if Apple only gave us minimum support and saved all of the good stuff (like playlist syncing for their own players) I'd be willing to pay! Apple would still make a ton of money, and for nothing really. Apple would even collect a little profit on a device that some other manufacturer made and sold too! I mean, I'm sure a ton of people would still go out and buy iPod's, and Apple would still be making a ton of money off of their increased Itunes downloads and user usage that followed as a result! Some consumers might even be soooo impressed with Apple's software, that they would then go out and make an iPod their next music player of choice! Everyone wins right?!?... Is it possible? Would Apple and Steve Jobs ever consider doing this? I personally, would be willing and more than happy to pay a fee of up to $50 to Apple (per player, like sling media charges for their smart phone software!) to use iTunes in this manner with the device of my choosing! How about you?... Or, am I just dreaming?....
