Not as far as I know, I've never seen one anyway

You can get UHF adapters that allow you to connect a LCD or Plasma TV to a computer wirelessly but they won't work with a standard monitor.

I guess there's little demand for it since you usually have the base unit close to the monitor and you'd still need to plug the monitor into the mains anyway.

EDIT:

Somebody tried to develop one back in 2003 apparently:

It just seems strange that they havent come up with one, i appreciate theres no real need to have one but you know what most people are like, they will buy something without a need for it.
Like wireless keyboards, how many of us actually need them or do we have them just because we can? I imagine it would be the same with monitors?

Yeah, I see what you mean. I think the biggest hurdle is that you still have to plug the monitor into the mains. Maybe a portable, wireless battery powered 12" display or similar with a trackerball and mini keyboard would be useful, but perhaps it's cheaper to just build a low-end wi-fi enabled laptop by the time you've taken the cost of the necessary wireless gear into account.

It's no where near as simple as keyboard or mouse or even wireless network.

We are talking a whole different order of magnitude in data transfer. Such a wireless system would probably fry you with the energy generated.

Commercial wireless transmitters of similiar transfer rates have big fences around them keeping people a safe distance away

No it wouldn't!

You only need to beam the same low power RGB signal that is currently output by the graphics card. If it needs to be amplified, it can be done by the monitor itself.

If you're talking about wireless power transmission i.e. a monitor that doesn't have a power cable or batteries then yes, that's a different matter altogether

Analog RF yes, digital no.

For digital wireless video transmission, you will need a lot of bandwidth, like 1Gbps or more worth of data. Especially for HD video or gaming.

There is equipment, but expensive and usually aimed at commercial applications.

for wireless power transmission, you will be zapped like a bug in a bug catcher!!

Old man Tesla was just about to invent wireless power transmission when they hushed him up and concealed all his works.
