All in one or buy separately?
Can I fix a lot of problems in one hit or should I buy separate gear for sure quality?
Currently:
- k750i on pay as you go Tescos mobile and swapping the simcard for T-Mobile for GPRS. Does what it does well.
Useful:
1) Cheaper international calls
2) Very nice camera (better than 2MP K750i) so I don't have to buy a digicam
3) Possible 300mb/month 3G data option for laptop
4) Windows Mobile so I can install TomTom for navigation (already have bluetooth reciever), VoIP for WiFi hotspots (have the software ready; and hotspot auto finder software too)
Alternatively:
- buy a 3G PCMCIA card (£100?)
- buy a bluetooth PDA for TomTom to keep in the car (probably £60)
- buy a nice camera phone k800 separately and stay away from contracts
- buy international sim cards
Cavats:
- I am out of signal at sea for half of the year so contracts are effectively double the price
Questions:
1) 3G. Will it lead to a crappy half-arse phone that is bad at being a phone?
2) Windows Mobile. Will it lead to a crappy half-arse phone that is bad at being a phone?
3) Contracts. I don't like the risk of ruining my credit rating (worth £400 a month) and I don't find phone companies too trustworthy. Is it worth the risk to get a phone that can save me buying all this gear?
