they are still making profit, but it's down on previous quarters. I suspect they have invested some of their profit in production, so the effect won't be obvious until next year, when hopefully profits will lift again.

Well, let's face it, no matter how Sony ERICSSON are doing, they've always got one of the biggest technology giants backing them!

Let's not forget - Sony and Ericsson have shareholders to account to. For exaple at the begining of this year SE paid 300million USD to the parent companies, money which SE could have poured into expanding, R&D, bug fixing etc etc ! ! ! Technology, which Sony or Ericsson sell to SE is NOT FOR FREE ! All 3 are different companies, althou they have very close ties, they also have differend goals. Sony itself is not having an easy life. In the last year or so, went thru some restructuring (dismissed workers early last year). Neighter the Playstation3 nor the BlueRay DVD format are clear winners. ATM, Ericsson is the best of the 3 companies

@mario2004

SE has been making solid profits for 8 quarters now. I might have known a measley 10% drop would have you sneering away as usual.

Of course its above you to mention the 31% increase in units shipped when compared to this time last year. Margins are also unmoved on last quarter and profits still healthy.
