OK i just checked the Worldmate page is that were you have downloaded it from? and followed the instructions for installation? if not here is the link.
http://www.mobimate.com/SonyE[....]/P1/worldmateprofessional.shtm
If you are having problems try uninstalling it and then try again as there is no reason it shouldn't work.
The free version isn't brilliant IMO and i certainly wouldn't of bought the app myself. As i only use it for the Weather as you can get updates read to you a couple of times a day at times you choose. The rest of it's features i use better alternatives that i prefer.

Are you in the US? as for me although i use it mainly over WiFi to update the weather when i originally installed it just worked on the T-Mobile access point no problems at all. But i do understand that things work slightly differently in the US and some Networks block using certain points.

I wanted also to buy Worldmate, but when i download it on the phone, the program does not connect to the internet to update itself, there is always an error...
I can connect to the internet for other things, but not for Worldmate... Unfortunately...

i am in the states. $5.99 tzones only have a few ports open. the sucky thing is that the $19.99 tzones have all open ports but its not any faster so it isnt really worth it.
