My contract is up on the 21st October so i went to the o2 shop today in search of the new blackberry pearl 8120. Because i'm an o2 online customer she said that i would need to sort my tariff out over the phone and then i could go back to the shop to get the phone.

Only thing is that o2 are only doing it in blue untill the end of Novemeber (this is what the latest catalogue states). So i thought i'd wander over to the carphonewarehouse. I go in and asked about the new pearl and they looked it up on the system where it showed red and titanium as colour options. The girl said that there was no other information and that it was not in the warehouse yet.

So she said call back in the next couple of weeks and i could get it. I did say that i was an online customer with o2 and asked if i could upgrade through them and she said sure no problem. Was quite pleased as i don't want a blue one lol.

Then i thought i'd ring o2. They don't do the new pearl and told me that i cannot upgrade through carphonewarehouse, only through an o2 store after i've sorted my tariff. I tried my very best and this is what she offered;

Blackberry 8100

200 minutes
400 txt
Unlimited data
Unlimited o2 to o2 calls
18 month contract

£35 a month

or

Blackberry 8300

Exactly the same as above only the phone would be £59.99. I said i'd go for the pearl and ring back on the 21st to confirm but i'm having second thoughts and thinking about getting my pac code.

Do you think it would be better to take out a new contract, i really don't want a 18 month contract.

It always pays to shop around, especially if your current contract provider ain't doing you any favours, frankly, if i was going to be stuck with a blackberry for 18 months i sure would want it as cheaply as humanly possible

I really don't want 18 months at all. I thought i sent loads of txts per month but it is only between 175-200, i never call people either.

Basically i'm after the new blackberry pearl, or maybe the curve, unlimited data, a small amount of minutes and say 300-500 txts at the most for say £30-£35 per month.

Do you think that is possibly available anywhere, i'm looking at the t-mobile website at the moment and they seem pretty good. Seems as though you get better deals by getting a new contract.

I don't need 400 minutes i don't really need any at all.

200 minutes at the very most
300 txts if possible
Unlimited data
£35 per month
Free phone

I don't think it's a huge amount to ask really, and if the new pearl is around anywhere i'd pay say £50 for that.

Yeah that was for the pearl (the old one) and if i wanted to the curve for the same tariff it'd be £60 for the phone.

Evil or what!
