I have been having occasional problems with my new T39
on TMobile in New York City. Mainly in my apartment--
signal reads 4-5 bars, strong.

When I talk to people, I hear them loud and clear, BUT
they complain that sometimes my voice breaks up or
I fade in and out. Also, once in a while I try to initiate
a call and can't--goes back to standby or fails and I get
some weird tones which I assume means failure.

So my question is: has anyone else experienced this and
does it make sense that perhaps although my local
tower is broadcasting at strong enough strength for my
phone to read it loud and clear, when my T39 transmits
my voice or tries to initiate a call, the transmission is not
strong enough to get picked up?

Are there any stats on what the max transmission strength
of various handsets is? Are they all pretty comparable?
Is it likely I could be in a spot where reception is strong
but my T39 can't transmit strong enough signal to get
received by the base station?
I haven't been able to really find any info online about this.

thanks,
Chris

Chris,in my opinion is the phone-meaning this model and the t29 r having serious issues regarding signal in europe.i've seen dozens of t39s in service.try another phone(model) 4a few days and if it's ok during call then it's the phone.i have an erri r320s and the reception is weak usually! Chris, I live in Brooklyn, and I've just purchased a T39, as has a friend of mine. We've both had lousy network access (just like what you describe) since purchasing them, and wondered if it's an issue with this phone specific to the NYC area, as I had a T28 before, and much, much better network access. Did you find out anything in this regard? Any explanations from T-Mobile? Or any way of improving service?
