> Why do SE not used Smartphones More?

My first smart phone was my N95 and to be honest I could never go back to java now. When I had my K800, the smartphone features were exactly what I was missing.
My question is, why do SE only ever use Java for the majority of there phones? I'd have been interested in the K880i but the fact that it only uses java is a huge put off for me.
I'm an SE fan, but at the moment I think they are lagging behind Nokia a bit. IMO theres nothing comes close to the N95 at the moment

I don't know about you, but I would absolutely HATE to have symbian on my phone (or WM for that matter). Java is perfectly simple and has great looks.
I don't need any 3rd party apps.

dont know to produce one, if at all they produce it will be a crap
like P990i
Overall the speed and many bugs are to resolved by SE in smartphone
segment.

to me that shows that still there is not the 100% compatibility of java with phones in the way we have with native applications on symbian and WM
btw, lets not please make this a Nokia vs SE thread and also... N95 has already been compared with just about every other phone possible.. so its really about why SE doesn't have more smartphones
actually, I think its largely down to SE still not having matured enough in the symbian/uiq arena remembering that so far they have only released 7 of these phones. over a 5/6 year period. I also think that while UIQ is not a bad UI its having to factor development of this ontop of symbian that is also holding them back and perhaps this is why they have sold 50% to Motorola?
I guess they could take the Nokia route and make phones like K850 with a simple (i.e. non UIQ) symbian 60 O/S but why should they given the success of walkman and cybershot phones in general

i totaly agree,i had a SE W900 and then got a Nokia N80 and i can never go back to Java, Symbian S60 has SO MANY applications and games that make me never want to own a Java phone because then i'd missing out on all of this.
I wish SE made more symbians, phones like W900, K800/K810, and K850 would have been SO MUCH better with Symbian, especialy if it was s60

i hate lagging factor on symbian phone but luckily SE lagging case won't be as bad as nokia s60 symbian phone especially when you have a lot of program inside your phone. In a most case, you'll clearly see it while you on/off your phone. How long this symbian phone takes time to load up the program before its reach the main screen or standby mode.

When was the last time you looked at a Symbian S60 3rd Edition phone as they really are more than fast enough for those of us that want and need all the extra features our smart phones give as quite simply how ever fast non smart phones are they can't do what we want and need.
If you don't want or need a smart phone fair enough but please stop talking rubbish about how slow they are as this really is not the case any longer.

Well, personally, I've used an S60 phone before and while I enjoyed having all the smartphone capabilities, I somehow felt like it was a breath of fresh air when I switched to my K750. It was much faster, and I could still do most of the stuff I did on my S60 phone like surfing and checking my emails etc. Admittedly, it's not exactly the same as having a smartphone, but that's exactly my point. Everyone has different needs and not all of us need to have a smartphone. I think things are good the way they are now, in that we can get phones that suit us from the various manufacturers.
