Can the P1i do multi-tap/T9 over the numeric keys? I read this on Mobile-review:
"Text input and display
The device offers three ways of texting: the first one is recognition of hand-written characters; it hasn’t been changed at all, compared to the P-series. The second is the on-screen keyboard – you’re at liberty to switch between different layouts, e.g. from Russian to English and vice versa. In the third place data can be entered via the standard keyboard, here you can use the text prediction system, Т9."
Does the T9 respond to numeric keypad (0-9) or is the T9 predictive only for the full qwerty keypad?

There is no T9 implementation in the P1, you type using the qwerty, or on screen using a software keyboard OR using the handwriting recognition.
The text prediction used by the p1 is present in ALL these systems, offering a list of completed words for you to select from if you wish to.
When entering text the keyboard defaults to working in qwerty mode, when dialling a phone number (for example) the keyboard defaults to number mode. Number mode can be selected at any time by pressing the alt key a couple of times. When in number mode the p1 does not offer a t9 experience, it simply enters numbers, nothing else.
Myself I find the rocker style keys easy to work with, the only pda/phone qwerty i've used that is better was on a blackberry.

oh ok, so word prediction is present in qwerty and handwriting mode?
For all current P1i owners, is it easy to type & send an SMS with one hand?

I find it very easy. I can do it all with my thumb, only place you might need to use a bit of finger gymnastics is if you need to scroll the contact list with the jog dial - but you can type a quick search out for the contact you want instead - but otherwise totally easy with one hand. I find the p1 just the right width to type using the qwerty using one hand and the screen and soft buttons are easily accessible too.

Hi Jp,
It is possible, your thumb will get used to the new motions in a few weeks. Contrary to what i expected, I always find myself using two hands when i can though. I get better speed and accuracy with 2 thumbs

Ditto here. Definitely better with 2 hands, but 1 handed typing is possible. Just a lot slower for me

One reason why i got this phone was for the clever keyboard. I've only have mine for about 2 weeks so I'm not an expert with it yet. Haven't tried typing with 1 hand yet though.
