Newbie-ish question. I like to think of myself as a smart man however ive done some searching and i have tried myself several times to load some of the w960i theme files i got from another member onto my p1i and i havent been able to get it done. There rar format files i have winRAR what else do i need to do to get these loaded? please help.

Ok perhaps im not as savy as i thought. i figured out that all i had to do was transfer the files on to my memory card. Somehow i did not expect it to be so simple, go figure. However i now have a new question why is it that when i view the themes file on my memory card and then install it, a message pops up and says it now available in my theme jog dial. When i go to control panel>device>themes its not there?

No, that should be all. Just copy the utz- file over to the phone somewhere you can read it. Then click it, and it should be available in the themes- tab.

If it's not, then there's probably one of two things - there's a name- conflict in the list for the index, or something stupid like that. Or the xml- file is read, but doesn't pass some sort of check (i.e., there are extra fields or references, etc.). In other words, noone knows, least of all the engineers at SE.

..Well.. it's another one of those intuitive solutions that probably make absolute sense from the point of view of someone who have all the security solution papers, all the module- programming, and a overview of the third- party programs. I.e., noone.

mind you, its been this same process since the days of the P900 (P800 didn't have themes), and its been one of the most often asked questions (search "install themes", search +install +theme, search +install +utz) on Esato such that it was included in the sticky thread Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style). Indeed I answered this question here just a couple of days ago

I always thought SE should learn how unobvious installing themes was and add an "install theme" function within the PC suite

I suppose one day we really should update it to include the latest models and so now that is on my todo list
