> Musical 'guilty pleasures'
Bookmark topic
After reading a thread that (I think) Dougproctor saying he loved the new Take That track despite his reservations, it would be interesting to hear everyone's musical 'guilty pleasures', those tracks/artists/genres that you like but are a bit emabrrassed about, or wouldn't dare tell your mates about!
For me, it's 1980s power ballads, despite their now cheesy reputation, big hair and big shoulderpads I love them!

@sammyboy:
do we belong in the same age category? lol
i also love the 80s power ballads but more of those coming from the "alternative" groups of yore: Skidrow (I'll Remember You, 18 and Life), Motley Crue (Home Sweet Home), Bon Jovi (Blaze of Glory, Wanted Dead or Alive), Cinderella, Poison, etc... unless you're referring to another power ballad thingy (?)
guess, i have mellowed right now.
currently, i'm into the "new" alternatives like 3 Doors Down, Nickleback, Collective Soul, Matchbox 20, Incubus and digs still the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Smashing Pumpkins and Snow Patrol. Not more on their loud songs but the mellower ones
i'm a big fan of Van Halen though, who are currently on their comeback and reunion concert with David Lee Roth in the US. hope they could come up with new materials... even my ringtone is an Audacity-edited version of Eddie's "Eruption" riff
this is a nice thread. members could get to know more of each other through their individual music tastes.
cheers, mate!

I've just found sunset strippers version of 'waiting for a star to fall' in my playlist so I'll hold my hands up to that one, I must have consciously obtained it at some time
Either that or it's like a virus, I wonder how many people have it? Come on now, don't be shy...

Indeed, I have that Sunset Strippers track as well!
It wasn't Everything But the Girl that did the song originally btw, it was 'Boy Meets Girl' - I think it was about their only hit!

So that's three reported infections already if you count the original. I'm gonna email Norton
Does Jean Michel Jarre count? I've been a huge Jarre fan all my life but only of the early stuff. Just about everything after Chronologie was pants.

I am not adding to this thread in a constructive way, my musical taste elaves a bit to be desired.
Take S for example,
in S, I've got, Slipknot, Spineshank, The Sex Pistols, Roni Size, The Shamen, Barbra Streisand, The Spice Girls, Sugababes, The Streets, Talvin Singh, Joss Stone oh, and Britney Spears...
So that's some of S, look at the variation there now expand that over another 25 letters and imagine the result.
I've got lots of "guily pleasures" although In my defence, I am not ashamed of any of my collection, it's al hand picked for one reason or another.

Sounds like your musical tastes are more eclectic than mine Fatreg!
I don't tie myself down to one genre, I generally like most types of music, though not generally a big fan of the modern RnB, rap, gangsta and all that stuff.
