I was given a free album download from my Sony Credit card this month so I installed SonicStage as it says it need this to work..
I downloaded the album "Roisin Murphy - Overpowered"
now is there a way to copy the album onto your memory card instead of MP3 player or CD?
anyone know?
thing is I would like to do the burn onto CD but my laptop is vintage thing Sony PCG-F400 lol no CDRW Drive
I will use my mates laptop later im hoping to login to SonicStage on it then the album will be there without me downloading the software ..
but if anyone knows how to Copy the album onto Memory card then let me know TA

you probably can't (DRM). You can only synch the song to drm supported music devices that support ATRAC (minidisc, sony mp3 players etc). Sony Ericsson phones don't support atrac.

blame DRM. Sonic stage is crap, but you wouldn't need it if the "free" track didn't have Sony DRM copy protection in it.
If you can burn a CD in sonicstage, you MAY be able to rip an mp3 from the cd you burnt.

Sadly I think this is why Minidisc didn't take off as a format, the limitations put on it by the damn SonicStage software!
If you had a MD recorder you could burn the song to MD, then play the track on the MD whilst connected to the PC using a digital cable and record it on the PC as a Wav then convert it to MP3. Bit long winded but that's the best way I can think of.
Either that or install Limewire and get it for nowt.... can I say that or am I being naughty?

Yep, now if it was itunes store tracks it would be a little easier - you could burn a cd, then rip the tracks off the cd. But that's a waste of a cd if you don't actually need the cd. You can use a cd image and an image mounter, (to mount a virtual cd rom) which you could then rip tracks without wasting a cd.
But it's all a pain in the butt, all thanks to DRM. To show much people hate DRM; pple have recognised this and now offer higher quality DRM FREE audio tracks for 50% higher pricing. But you can legally copy the tracks as much as you like for your own use - they have NO copy protection!
Hopefully Sony will eventually be forced to also recognise how much people are sick of DRM restricting their fair use of content they have purchased or legally own.
