> K850 and push mail

I just got a K850 and first impressions are quite good but I can't work out how the push mail is supposed to work.
When setting up an account it isn't mentioned then afterwards in the options it seems greyed out.
I have the standard vodafone firmware and am wondering if they've disabled it or locked it down somehow to a specific account.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks but this seems to only explain how to set up gmail, I want to set up PUSH mail like blackberry etc which is a feature of the K850 and not in earlier SE phones.
Anyone else?

I know Vodafone mail doesn't support it as logged in and was still greyd out. Connected to my MS Exchange mailbox and the first time you connect and sync your mail it prompts with Push Mail asking if you would like to enable it.

It's true. Your work needs to have an Exchange server or Mail server to get push e-mail. I'm not sure about Vodafone's software but on my O2 K850 I can sync with my work's exchange server no problem - even have the option to have it 'push' e-mail to me but then it leaves the GPRS/UMTS connection open so it'll drastically reduce your battery life.

Ah gotcha, it asks you after you use set up the mail. I've not set up my server for push yet so I'll have to do that although battery seems bad enough without something else to drain it.

I use a service called Momail. It shrinks pictures to fit resolution of your mobile and removes unwanted html etc in mail thus saving money!!

The push option is only available if you are using either IMAP or ActiveSync, note that not all IMAP servers supports IMAP idle as it is called. The POP3 protocol does not have any push capabilities (its a protocol limitation).
The first time you check your mails against an IMAP-server that supports push you will get a question if you want to enable it.
If you have a server (POP or IMAP) that dont support push you can change the polling intervall which will get you kind of a push feeling.
