Hi all,

This was posted on one of the Dobermann Forums i belong to and has come from the Police.

If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that he or she is a company engineer, or telling that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number, end this call immediately without pressing any numbers.

There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your 'SIM' card and make calls at your expense.

Forward this message to as many colleagues, relatives and friends as you can, to stop it.

Many thanks for your time regarding this matter, take care and regards.

@Marly

Really you think so do you? care to say why then ? as the Woman that posted it is not some kid playing a wind up but a respected and well known Dobermann breeder.

Also i have phoned the telephone number which indeed is a Police Station phone number and they have confirmed both the person in the post exists and that he holds the position stated.

Furthermore they also confirmed to me that the Scam is real and that they are circulating the information to stop people being caught out by it. I was also told i was quite right to check if unsure of it's authenticity.

Which leads me to assume the only reason you would like to suggest it's a hoax is you are part of the Scam maybe? care to comment now?

Marc

These emails circulated, with almost literally the same text ("translated" to Dutch circumstances, of course), already five or six years ago in the Netherlands.
And no doubt the lady, who posted is, is respectable, after all, she didn't invent this, she probably got the email from someone else, and this person got it from another, etc.

@dogmann

It is a hoax mate

It's been going around for years in various forms, from taking control of your phone to dialling a premium rate number that costs £150 per minute.

There's loads of info about it on google if you don't believe me

@MARLY & Cycovision

Did neither of you not bother reading what i have said, that i have personally spoken to the Police on the number given please read what i have said before continuing to talk rubbish.

We all know hoax's like this have existed but if i am telling you i have checked the details before posting that should mean something. If not i suggest you call the number and speak to the POLICE yourselves to verify what i am saying is true.

Really all i am trying to do is stop people being caught out, if it's a hoax then no one will call so no action is needed. I suppose i should of ignored it until people started posting i have a massive phone bill I've been ripped off as it wouldn't be much help then would it?

I've heard this over and over with different contact details but a quick google seems to confirm including this at hoax slayer

its obviously surprising that the person you have called has confirmed it

So surely if THEY can make you press #09 or whatever to 'enter your sim', surely you could just phone someone and ask them to do it, and access THEIR sim.

I wouldn't ring the 'police' number either..
