Hello all,

I'm trying to set up gmail on my p1i. I allready use the java application but wanna try the build in e-mail.

I've set up the account like:
accountname: xxx@gmail.com
e-mailadress: xxx@gmail.com
pop3
incomming: pop.gmial.com
outgoing: smtp.gmail.com

advanced
incomming
security: SSL
port 995
outgoing
security: SSL
port: 465
MIME-coding on

This should be allright shouldn't it?

When i try to send/recieve it connects to thew internet and than says:"cannot connect to the network. Not reachable"

Internet is working fine...... I don't get it, what am i doing wrong??

looks good to me. here is my post detailing the settings

I notice you typed pop.gmial.com

is this a typo just in the post or is this what you actually have in the phone?

maybe the operator "blocks" it. i wasnt able to rec messages from my gmail acc, but i could send. called my operator, they expalined me, that i can only use their ( t-mobile ) server, for send/rec emails. maybe its in your case too. try to set your operators email server, but use your gmail acc datas.

@boba, I think you may have been misled there. Normally you cannot send email on your phone and should use the operator smtp server but this is only if you don't use an authenticated, which you are with gmail.

I also use t-mobile and even when in europe, including Austria etc, I never have a problem connecting with gmail.

@TCM, just for interest, is your connection a wap connection or a full internet connection? what is your data account APN? that should tell you which you are using

@ masseur

You've led me to the answer. I was using a wap connection. I've changed it to an internet connection without a proxy and it is working like a charm!

Thanx

@ masseur

Do you think it is possible to set up a gmail account with push mail?

I don't use push mail myself but I am sure I have read here that you can use 3rd party services like mail2web to push gmail since it has pop3 access

btw, in case anyone missed it, you can access gmail via IMAP now too.
As with pop3 access you have to enable it in your gmail account and you can find the setings there too
