today i've found in an ugly box a quite beautifull phone.
The Porsche mobile ... (Oooohhh)
Well it's an Alcatel mobile which costs 1200euro, designed by Porsche.

The Box;
The quite ugly box contains a charger, a 2GB memory card (already in phone), a datacable and a well designed headset.
It's headset is made of some metal-kind material. Which feels realy solid and strong. I realy missed a car-charger here, since most suppliers can't provide me one. I'm curious how to charge the phone on a long road-trip.
Offcourse there's a manual inside, but who needs one(?) it's a alcatel

Phone:
It's design is quite nice .. basicly you like it or you don't.
The metal-brush material does give it an exclusive look. And feels really solid. It's like a nokia 6300 clamshell version
THe screen can twist around so it can be used like a digicam.
I've always found this feature rubbisch, since it makes the clamshell much more vounrable. At the moment i picked it out of the box i got the intention it was broken. Since the upperpart of the display can move about 3mm toward both sides!!!
At the lower part of the display there is a fingerprint scanner. Which allows you to secure your phone, and it's content.
So no more 'enter pin' ... just move your finger over the scanner.
The scanner can be used like a D-pad (up,down, left, right) however it doesn't work that great. After some practise it does what i want it to do.
However i do prefer the regular pad, since it does work at once.
Both of the display is well bright and can be read good in direct sunlight.

Features:
Not much special, it does feature a 3.1MP camera (with 2x leds for night pictures), bluetooth, mp3 player, and the fingerprint scanner.

Overall i'm not that great about the phone. I'd give it a 7.5 for it's solid design. But they need to tightup some screws at the swirl display.
THe fingerprint scanner is quite unique i think.
But the price of 1200 is just way tooo much to me.
I know it's not in my budget, but i rather get a gold nokia 8800

feels quite smooth, reminded me of the new samsung menu style (theme)
the menu's don't have any moving windows or what so ever.
it's quite basic and simple.
the fingerprint scanner does seem to have some delay with the cursor... like mention before, it's faster/better to use the D-pad

Scanner performance unsurprising, if you think about how it works

Transitions(animated windows etc) would only slow UI down......

Oo, what's the 3-speaker sound like?? Loudness AND quality?? Sorry for all these questions!
