> P990i bricked! help anyone?
Bookmark topic
Hello everyone.
As in the title; today i've bricked my p990.
How did it happen? well .. dont know. Seemed like a year since i ran the last update, so i had the (unlucky) idea of updating.
I wasnt really checking the update process, i started it and watched it only to 44%, then i came back on working about some other stuff. After some minutes; i just came back and noticed the SEUS was in the main page (no confirmation or anything, just on the main page as wehn you open it). So i said, WOW! firmware updated... detached the usb and there it is. Wont boot up.
****! ... i removed seus, cleaned directory, reinstalled seus and tried again. Now i noticed that, when i connect the phone pressing "C", i see, for 1/10 of a second, a blue screen with white fonts, cant really read whats inside (will video it later at home with my camera to try and figure out whats written in there); and when i try to use the seus, it simply will not identify it (phone not recognized).
Is there a way in which i can force the firmware update (and possibly unbrick) the phone? Maybe with those new se-cracked stuff ? (xs++?)
Thanks in advance.
Btw... service is not an option. They will service it only if i have the original receipt, but, having bought it in thailand (9000km from me, im in italy) thats gonna be tricky.

If anyone can have a guess at whether it's still possible to get the phone into service mode, if you aborted the update process - and if it's possible to do that.. then you could try uninstalling the pc- suite, and then search through the registry and remove all references to the "com- ports" and drivers for various SE units (all have a string saying "sony ericsson"). And then reboot and install the pc- suite.
Not sure what exactly it is, but the way the driver is written makes it struggle when there are other units registered.. at least sometimes. Install the other pc- suite and a w800 for instance, and you're screwed. Suddenly no phone- mode, etc. Possibly it's because of the communication component is running through the "devices", and there's some sort of conflict *shrug*. But it's bloody irritating, and SE knows about it as well. But at least it can be fixed with the process above. (Sorry I can't be more specific about what entries to remove in the registry, though).

didnt really find anything helpful there
update:
when i turn it on connected to usb while pressing the "C" button i have a "blue screen"; in the blue screen there's:
some copyright of symbian ltd
c:\\> z:
z:\\> ZebraCom
then it turns off (or, if something is active, i cant see it. no led nothing).
so basically i guess the rom is f**ked up. any way to repair ? ...

Sometimes the answer lies in the simplest remedy - did you take out the battery and try again?

well, thanks for the suggestion; but yes. i did that.
and in a number that is soon to be 3 digits.
Really; i guess all i have to do is re-flash the erom. (btw its not zebracom but zebraerom, i did a (better) photo of the screen so i could read it

).
Anybody knows how to flash a p990 erom ? even paid services online ... its a brick that cost me around 740 euros; you can imagine my mental state right now ...
