Well after dogmann posted that telephone scam before and made me think about these calls I have been getting....

well anyway i got a call from the number again today about 5 mins ago - 08000270360

So i thought i may aswell answer it and so did so.....as soon as i did i looked on my screen before putting it to my ear and the browser had popped up and the java warning : Allow internet Access - Yes, no, always(not sure if this is t-mob Fw specific) and so anyway i pressed to no button and ended the call ASAP

Dont know how this happened but seems very suspicious to me...watch out ppl

the site you quoted (which also came up in my first search but I ignored it) says

"This is a user supplied database of phone numbers of telemarketers, non-profit organizations, charities, political surveyors, SCAM artists, and other companies that don't leave messages, disconnect once you answer, ignore the Do-Not-Call List regulations, and simply interrupt your day."

so its not an official site of anything and is simply driven by unhappy people who probably never bothered to investigate a little further or even call the number to find out who it is.

There is no way an incoming phone call can download, install and activate a java program to then start a data call which requires permissions. Its possible (though highly unlikely) that you could have a program running on your phone that waits for this specific phone number to call you and then attempt to access the net but it all sounds very unlikely

so there must be some explanation of the java app that was running at that time

well i had only just turned the phone on from a charge...was in standby for about 5 mins with no apps running and i doubt theres anything running to access web as the only thing i installed on the phone in the month i had it is 2 themes......so it actually did happen and i would have recorded it if i had known......

Also im not saying it downloaded anything im saying it ran my inbuilt web browser for some reason?
