As the O2 iPhone is available on Friday I decided we could use a new thread to discuss this specifically, to post any news in the next few days and for feedback from members who get the O2 iPhone

the first pice of news here will be good news for the O2 iPhone owners to be:-
O2 removes 200MB Fair-Use policy for UK iPhone (more at the Telegraph)

Carphone sees 10,000 iPhones being sold on 1st day which doesn#t sound alot really?

Hi all,

Well while the announcement does sound really good the statement they have given is quite worrying IMO.

"There is no limit on the monthly network usage. However if we feel that your activities are so excessive that other customers are detrimentally affected, we may give you a written warning (by email or otherwise). In extreme circumstances, if the levels of activity do not immediately decrease after the warning, we may terminate or suspend your Services."

Especially the last line as what happens if they do this to the rest of your 18 month contract? and it turns out either 02 or Apple don't have to unlock your device. As whilst many here may be capable and well enough informed to unlock it what about average Joe Public that may of bought one?

Marc

How much does the Iphone cost when it is release in London, with contract or without. My sis is in London currently and thinking of getting her to buy one for me.

I may plump for one of these, but I will buy it as if I am buying a Touch and if I can then get it to work as a phone it will be a bonus!

But at the end of the day it ain't going to be a patch on my BB Curve

There is no way I am signing up to an 18 month Contract!

You cannot use the iPod function until the phone is activated.

Well in that case I'll either put off buying one till they can definitely be hactivated, or use it as a paperweight until they do and in the mean while use what will be my shiny new 960i! with no silly restrictions!

In the face of irony, I have one sitting on my desk and to keep with me until Friday night.

I'll admit, a few things about it are good, but bottom line is: it's a great ipod, a great internet browser, but it's an awful phone. I've tried it with 4 different people from different phone needs and wants and none of them like the phone or sms part of it, but the rest is fine.

I'd say buy an iPod Touch.
