I know this may be a stretch... but is it possible to use the P1i as a host for a usb drive? Like, if you connected a thumb drive or external HDD to the end of the usb cable of the phone... would it be possible to access the files in that drive (assuming a FAT drive)

I doubt it, the usb on the p1 is designed for transfers to and from a pc, I don't think that it has the necessary drivers to access an external mass storage device.
