> My new P1i Picture quality very poor
Bookmark topic
Pictures taken using my new P1i has good resolution, but poor colour representation. ie. if there is a same color patch in the frame, the picture shows a mosaic of colours over that patch. Thus a portrait looks horrible (unless we see it only on camera screen) with skin showing a matt finish.
Tried contacting SE with no response. Their toll free number, web-interface for emailing, service centre have all been disappointing.
Can anyone tell me if this is all one can expect from a mobile camera that boats of 3+ MPixel camera. Again there is issue with resolution. But what use if each of those pixels cannot do correct colour representation? Attaching one picture

What your dealing with is:
1)Low Compression. YOu may have it set to a high megapixel value but the phone is set to compress it down. This creates the mosaic
2)ISO noise. The phone has to ramp up its ISO level to get pictures. A solution is to shoot in better light or to use the flash mode. Try night mode too if you can, it lowers the ISO but increases the shutter speed time(you'd have to have a steadier hand though)
The ISO is the reason you get the grain of different colors
The aboe two will happen on any phone/camera. The one below is a P1i bug.
3)Green patch to the right. This is a green gradient over the right side of the image. Not really annoying until you look for it.

I think itīs very annoying in certain situations. The green tint brings kind of "sea-sick" feeling to the picture.

As well as the colour balance problems I find that the camera takes too long to actually shoot the shot. I'm sure my 990 wasnt as slow at taking piccies as the p1, the camera may be more featuristic (sic), but it seems to be a step back.
I do hope it is sorted with a firmware patch.

I disagree with your opinion that the p1i has a slow shutter. I suppose that would depend on how you use the camera, but I 'ALWAYS' half press the shutter button to have it auto-focus and lock (lock time depends on lighting), and then full press to take the picture. Doing it this way will never be slow because the camera has locked on already and the time from full press to the picture being taken is about half a second. Of course, if you are just full pressing the camera button, then there will definately be a delay, becasue it has to auto-focus, lock , and take the picture all in the same instance. This could lead to you missing the picture you wanted to take.
Other than the green tint though, I do like the camera (at least for what its meant to be used for ^^, for everything else get a real digital camera). If they'd only fix the tint!!!

Yes, that's true. Plenty of light and auto-focus solves most of the problems.
