Hi all, I just got my N95 8GB a few days ago in the mail, and I'm having problems getting everything set up.... If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it...

First off,I use a Mac for my PC needs and it would seem that the Plug-in I downloaded and installed on my computer for isync support isn't compatible with my N95 8GB!... The image next to the download link for the plug-in has a N95 (european version I'm guessing) pictured and I just assumed it would work with my N95 8GB, since as I understand it there's not a huge difference internally and software wise from the original N95 to mine. Right?... However, the plug-in (I'm guessing) doesn't work with my phone! My Mac recognizes and shows my N95 8GB when plugged in and in "PC Mode", however when I go to "add new device" in isync, it says that it isn't supported! I live in the US and am running Tiger OS version 10.4.10 software on my Mac, which according to Nokia's site is a higher version of the minimum required software for the plug-in. Am I S.O.L., or do I have to wait for Nokia to release a new plug-in that'll support the N95 8Gb specificly? The plug-in that they do eventually release, if do release one, will it be compatible with my Mac's OS or will they automatically make it for Mac's new Leopard software?... I hope not....

Secondly, Nokia's Media Transfer Software that I downloaded to sync my iTunes and iPhoto to my N95 8GB with, doesn't support it! What gives? Again my N95 8GB shows up in the software window as "N95 8GB" while in "PC Mode", however it won't let me do anything with it. It says it isn't supported! Is this all because I'm an early adopter?... How quick is Nokia in addresssing these issues? Can I expect a software update any time soon? This all really bums me out, because I bought this phone over another competing phone because of the software support for Mac's, however now that I'm not able to sync my contacts or music on my phone I'm really beginning to doubt my purchase! And here I thought my drag and drop days were finally over too....

Thirdly, after playing with the phone for most of the first day I quickly became a little overwhelmed. I've now read most of the users manual, however I still don't know how to add my java games that I have on my Mac to my phone! Before, on my SE W850i, inorder to add games all I had to do was drag and drop them into the "Other" folder on the memory stick, and then manually open them to install them... I have to say that the file system on my N95 incomparison is a little archaic! How do I install my games on this phone?.... What folder do I put them in? I managed to install a Symbian Tomb Raider game that I found (by transfering it over bluetooth to my phone), however I can't seem to manually put it in the "Games Folder" (N-gage) in the media carousel for quick access, instead the N95 made a new folder on the desktop named "Games" and put it there.... I've tried and tried to move it to the medai carousel, but can't. Any help?

Fourthly, I managed to install A video in the "My Video" folder in the Mass Storage drive via drag and drop like the manual says to do, however it won't play in anything but that folder! When I go to the media carousel and look at the "My Video" in the "Media Carousel" folder it shows a thumbnail of the video and the name of the video with a ._ before it, however neither files allow me to play the actual MP4!!! The other file with the ._ before the file name has a funny red astrix next it and shows that it has no data in it and looks like a metallic riveted door. I can't delete either of them, since they both say that the "file is open" when I attempt to?... Trying to delete them in the "Video Center" in the "My Videos" folder only makes matters worse! Now I have like three of those empty metallic door thingies in there along with the thumbnail of the video, however, none of them play the file! How do I delete them and get my N95 to play them from the "Media Center" in the "Media Carousel" directly? Will I have to dig through the "File Manager every time and to the "My Videos" folder to get it to play?!?.... Very annoying to say the least!

Please help! Any constructive help is welcome.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks you two for all of your HELP btw.... It's actually a GREAT PHONE now that I've got everything running and synced with my Mac. I'll probably never go back to owning a Sony Ericsson after owning this thing for the few short days that I've had it. It really is an incredible phone! It does it all, really really well! It's not much bigger than my SE W850i either btw! It's wider (due to the ginormous screen) but thinner than my W850i! The screen is AMAZING! Games that I had on my W850i and strained my eyes to see on that screen are now super sharp, not to mention LEGIBLE! If anyone else gets a N95 8GB and needs help, let me know. Nokia Europe's website has the new Nokia Multimedia Transfer Software (version1.2) that supports the N95 8GB (why not the US too nokia?). As for the Plug-in I needed for isync support and was looking for, I found it at http://web.mac.com/the_reamer/S60/isync24.html after browsing the Nokia users Forum on Nokia's site. Everything now works perfectly, and I was even able to get all of my games, ringtones, and wallpapers on the phone using Nokia's Multimedia Software ON MY MAC, WITHOUT HAVING TO BUY AN iPhone! Totally easier than "dragging and dropping " on my old SE!

A few quick observations about my N95 8GB before I go... I'll admit that the N95 8GB REALLY REALLY needs a lens cover (it has a clear piece of plastic or glass over the lens just below the back of the phone that I see getting easily scratched in the immediate future), and had it come with a zenon flash it would have been perfect. Oh, and having the 3.5 mm jack on the side of the phone is retarded... Other than that Build quality is superb! Everyone that's seen it here in the states is totally suprised by it! They can't believe that it's a phone! Oh, and Nokia's themes are boring and fugly to say the least... I hope we get flash lite support soon... Just a few minor bugs so far that I've noticed that I hope are addressed with the next firmware update. Everything is very fast too, causing me to constantly forget that I'm working a smart phone! All in all, the Nokia N95 8GB is a very impressive phone that's left me both very satisfied and impressed! Thanks all!

p.s. forgot to mention data transfer speeds using the usb connection.... took me about 2 hours to transfer about 4 GB worth of music (usb 2 my ass...), so in this regard both my W850i and N95 8GB pretty much match up, bleauchhhhh....
