How do I go about unlocking a W810i for free?!!? it just says insert correct SIM when i place mine in it!.. any clues........

a locked phone is one which can only use sim cards from the phone company the phone was bought from

unlocking the phone simply enables the phone to accept any sim card from any phone company

OP I don't know where you are located, but if in the UK, O2 phones are usually unlocked anyway and you should be able to use any simcard. Usually networks like Orange and Vodafone will only accept their own network simcards in their phones.

It would only cost about £10 maximum to unlock a phone.

please dont fall into that trap

unlocking and debranding are completely different things.

unlocking WILL NOT debrand the phone
and debranding WILL NOT unlock the phone

@abbafan only o2 contract phones are unlocked. 99% of the time o2 payg phones are locked
