I'm very happy to announce that as promised, Podcast Player (still waiting for a real name!) alpha 1 is available for download from the Bergamot project website.

As this program does not make use of any features that require "real" signing, the downloadable SIS can be installed by anyone.

Development went faster than expected, and alpha 1 has much more functionality than I envisioned. Specifically, it handles feeds, something I had not intended to do until alpha 2 at the earliest.

Alpha 1
* plays MP3 and AAC from d:\podcasts (can not be configured)
* downloads and parses RSS 2.0 feeds specified in d:\podcasts\feeds.cfg
* downloads audio files found in feeds on demand
* very simple UI, lacking settings and even volume control (the system multimedia volume control works)
* lacks ability to cancel downloads, so watch out!

This is alpha quality software, but it works fine on my phone! So please, download, install, test and send me bug reports, feature request and success stories!

And stay tuned for alpha 2 in no more than 7 days!

I've had some good feedback, and things are coming along nicely. I hope more people try it out!

Stay tuned for alpha 2 on Sunday, which will bring many new features.
