> A question about O2 upgrades
Bookmark topic
Hello all, have a question about upgrading on O2. I would most certainly think that this won't work but anyway, need to find out.
I am currently on an 18 month contract which I am 8 months through. Unfortunately I forgot to take my phone out whilst swimming and it is now completely dead. But after seeing the new iPhone terms and conditions - I may have found a loophole?
I called The Carphone Warehouse about upgrading to the iPhone. The man told me (after asking his manager) that I would be able to upgrade to the iPhone if I had a contract before September (which I have) and that I would not need to pay off the remaining contract.
To do this he said that I would take out a new contract and then port my old number to this new contract - automatically voiding the previous contract.
Now I don't want the iPhone because I don't want to pay out the 269 but I do have my eyes on the K850i. Do you possibly think this method would work? If not, anyone got any ideas?!?!
Thanks very much,
Vee-m

im not sure why this would be possible with or without the iphone....why would o2 let you start a new contract with a free phone when u already have one out....u would then have 2 surely and not have one cancelled for free??
although im not sure on that
however i dont think your k850i method would work as the iphone has to be taken out on a special tariff

Well he said the main bit is the porting - once the number has been transferred to the new contract it has no number associated with it so they cancel it?!
I will ring them tomorrow and see.

@vee-m
I have read in one of the other threads if you convert to an iPhone contract and then cancel it your revert to your original contract.
