Hi!

I use the P1i with the latest firmware and want to connect it with the Sony Ericsson PC Suite for Smart Phones 1.3.22.

When I installed Suite and connected the phone via USB the drivers were installed by Windows XP and the m-router showed the connection to the phone via USB. But when I try to connect Suite it doesn't find the phone.

I have reinstalled x times the software with and without the firewall running.
My firewall is also a Suite from Avira (Online-Scanner, Web-/eMail-Scanner, Firewall and on demand Scanner).
I have talked to SE for 1h but nothing seems be wrong with the drivers... I don't know what I can do now.

I have installed the Suite on the Laptop from my girlfriend with Windows 2k and it works fine with the same phone and USB-cable.

So the reason must be on my PC but I don't know what I can do.

Please no reinstall the OS-tip )

Dose any one know how the Suite tries to connect to the phone? And why the m-router can connect fine?
I also tried the FMA and it worked fine, too by using the BT-DFUe-Port witch is installed from the Suite.

Have you tried using a different physical usb port? I've found that the ones hardwired to the motherboard of my pc are often more reliable in terms of continuous connection, and remote ports, such as on monitor hubs tend to strobe a little.

Also, does SEUS detect your phone? If so, then it's possible you have a bad registry entry from your first attempt at installation. I know you didn't want this advice, but....you could always try completely uninstalling ALL SE software, opening the registry editor, deleting ALL references to Sony Erricson/PC Suite, deleting any left over SE directories under Program Files, & starting again from scratch. But for god's sake create a system restore point first!

Oh yes, amd I've found that PC suite installation works best when I don't even have the usb cable plugged in whilst installing - I don't know why, it just does

Thanks for answer.

I have also deinstalled all what I'v found on the system with the Tags of Sony but nothing help.
Also I have run a regcleaner to find all SE Keys and I have manuell search in the registry after the cleaning....

Did you know something about the connection way? Dose the Suite try to connect over the m-router or is the m-router only for modem/dfue etc.?

Any more ideas - I'm very thankfully for every tip.

Thanks, Alex

Sorry one I have forgotten to answer: Yes, SEUS find the phone. Also m-router and FMA and if I change to Data-Modus the PC found the Memorystick in the phone.

I'm sure m-router is used by the pc suite as itbecomes active just before the suite launches....sounds like there may be a driver issue here, I know that some of the functions are ok but it may be only one driver at fault as there are several that install (PC connect controler?). If an alternative to the SE driver was already resident on your system then XPs' Device Manager may have installed the wrong driver by mistake. These devices only show up when the phone is plugged in, theyre listed under USB controllers as:

Sony Ericsson P1 composite device
Sony Ericsson P1 PC-connect controller

If you can't force XP to update these drivers from the cd, then make a list of the actual filenames, uninstall the pc suite, make sure all SE devices are disconnected, go into your windows/system32 directory, manually delete all the relevant driver files, and then try reinstalling as this will force the XP to copy the drivers from the installer rather than using the ones that are already there - good luck!!

Oh, I've just noticed that all the driver filenames start with 'zebr' so this should make them easier to find.

Hi!

Thanks for your patience with my questions.

Once I have cleaned up the Reg with the regcleaner the installer doesn't install the phone-drivers by its own again. If I connect the phone Windows wants me to chose the drivers and can't find them it self.

I must specify the location "C:\\programme\\Sony Ericsson\\Sony Ericsson Symbian 9 Drivers" so that the drivers are found by the Hardware agent. So I think Windows must have the right one from the installer packet.

On the CD-Rom only vista-Drivers are found. The only place I coud find the drivers is the path see above.

Unless of course that it's looking for the .inf file that specifies the drivers, when it gets that it mat not actualy copy the files if they are already in your system32 folder.

I'd try deleting the files by hand, as XP doesn't like overwriting system files when they have the same creaation date.
